A lot of people are under the impression that the job they’re doing right now is the career they’re going to have for a long time. While that might have held true for some of the previous generations, it just doesn’t hold as much water for the workers of today. In a lot of cases, a person may end up having several careers at once.
Today’s younger workers especially have gotten both side jobs and careers going at the same time, often for completely different reasons. A great reason to do that can be because one of your jobs will keep you well fed and living in a nice place, while the other job will provide you with the kind of satisfaction that only your dream career can. Ultimately these two things will work well together and provide for you in ways that a traditional job just can’t. The old time careers just don’t work as well these days.
Fortunately, you can call both your job, or you can call one of your occupations your career and the other by another name. Some people love to call it the side hustle because it typically involves selling something on the side. What you do on the side need never have anything to do with one another. You just need to put as much energy into one as you do into the other. Some people even have three or four things they do at the same time. Of course, this can lead to serious sleep deprivation.
